What is giclee?

A French term, “Giclee,”  (Zhee-clay) describes the state of the art process of re-creating original works of art directly on a canvas surface through a spray print technique. The results are astounding.

The original painting is scanned at the highest resolution into the custom-designed manufacturing equipment.  The file is then “read” by the machine. The artwork is recreated by spraying millions of pigmented micro-droplets onto the canvas in a pattern to exactly match the electronic file.  The results offer an outstanding appearance of the original painting that a paper print cannot provide.  We then take our canvas edition and mount it on a wooden stretcher boards suitable for framing.  This is not a transfer print.  The detail is so exact, that side-by-side one cannot tell the difference between the original work and the giclee.  I now have to write “original” on the back of all my paintings so as not to lose them in the mix of giclees!!

Giclee have been tested to last longer than 50 years under glass without effecting color quality.  As with all of our products your satisfaction is guaranteed.
